2016 saw Rio Tinto’s 50th anniversary of mining iron ore from West Australian’s north west Pilbara region. To help mark the occasion, we embarked on a campaign to help Rio showcase their rich history and proud journey around the state.
A simple monoline 50 was designed to reflect Rio’s journey. The line is fluid and dynamic, reflecting a journey that has been progressive and spirited. The mark is at the heart of the year’s celebrations with all design and material focused around the brand’s proposition of ‘ground breaking’.
The exhibition was as much a celebration of past achievements as an opportunity to focus on the future’s prospects and tomorrow’s endeavours. A travelling road show was also created to bring the event around Western Australia and into China, Japan and South Korea.
